Adult Education Class leads to Forklift Certification

The Holmes County Career and Technical Center completed its first Forklift Certification Training Program on March 28, 2019. The four-week adult training class was sponsored in part by Hunter Engineering, Inc. (Durant, MS), with additional support from the Burrows Paper Company (Pickens, MS). The twelve students who completed the Forklift Certification Training Program at the Holmes County Consolidated School District Career and Technical Center not only received their certificate of completion from the HCCTC—they also received Certification ID Cards and Certifications from Daily Equipment, which is recognized by many employers across the state of Mississippi.
Students received instructional theory during classes as well as hands-on training of forklift operation safety. Daily Equipment is one of the largest suppliers of forklifts and heavy equipment in Mississippi. Ms. Hathorn, the Career Center administrator is thankful to Hunter Engineering, Inc. leaders and the Burrows Paper Company for their partnership with the HCCSD Career and Technical Center. “Because of our community partnerships, we are preparing our high school students and adult learners with the skills necessary to compete in a global workforce.”
