LEXINGTON, Miss. – Thursday, May 23, 2019, was a day of appreciation and celebration in the Holmes County Consolidated School District (HCCSD).
The Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools showered the district’s 475 employees, including recent retirees, with much love and gratitude for their hard work and dedication. The event was another district first: Distinction in Education Luncheon.
Held in the gymnasium of William Dean, Jr. Elementary School (WDJE) beautifully decorated by educators Frenchetta Lipsey and Delouise Randle, the luncheon featured the outstanding musical talent of the WDJE Choir, Stephan Mathis’ Jazz Ensemble Revue, and a duet by educators Kristie Montgomery and Pierrdro Gallion—all of whom received standing ovations from the wall-to-wall workforce. The delicious luncheon prepared by catering businesses Heavenly Delights (Sandra Ross), Gladys Restaurant (Gladys Williams), Agape Catering (Causey Johnson) and Big Daddy’s Catering of Tchula, MS received rave reviews.
“As we should, our focus is all about children, but I would be remiss if I failed to recognize those individuals who pour into the success of every child, every classroom, every day. Today, we want to pause and recognize those outstanding educators,” Superintendent of Schools James L. Henderson, Ed.D. told the honorees and other employees.
