A Community Engagement Council (CEC) is a group of individuals within the community who are willing to help increase student learning and improve a specific school (based on the school's rating). The council consists of parents, educators, students, and community members. The Community Engagement Council and the school district must work together in order to achieve an overall goal of students' successes and school improvements. Note: The Community Engagement Council (CEC) is not the same as the school board and does not have the authority to set policies, but does have required guidelines established by the Mississippi Department of Education.
